Witchcraft Today
Its publication followed the 1951 repeal of the Witchcraft Act, after which Gardner went public as a witch. Its foreword came from Margaret Murray, the originator of the pagan witch-cult theory on which the book rests, not a sceptic of it; historians have since rejected that theory.
