The Education of Little Tree
'Forrest Carter' was Asa Earl Carter, a former Ku Klux Klan organiser and speechwriter for the segregationist governor George Wallace. The journalist Wayne Greenhaw reported this in 1976, and the historian Dan T. Carter brought it to national attention in 1991. The book's contents are not evidence of anything genuinely Cherokee.
