The Wheel of the Year

Four genuinely medieval Irish fire festivals were combined with four solar quarter-days in private correspondence between two twentieth-century figures in the 1950s. Three of the festival names now used, including one coined as late as 1974, are entirely modern additions to complete the symmetry of the wheel.
