The Watchers taught forbidden technologies—metallurgy, weaponry, cosmetics, and astrology—while their towering offspring consumed earthly resources and spread violence, prompting the Deluge. In Second Temple Judaism, the narrative provided a foundational theological explanation for the origin of earthly evil.
