The ancestral household spirit of Slavic tradition who guards the hearth, livestock, and domestic peace.

In Slavic folk tradition, the Domovoy is the resident household guardian dwelling beneath the threshold, behind the clay oven, or in the stable. Often visualized as a small, bearded elder resembling the family patriarch, the Domovoy protects the home from fire, thieves, and malevolent external spirits. In exchange, the household leaves nightly offerings of bread, salt, and porridge, maintaining a sacred covenant of mutual respect.
