The Simon Necronomicon

The pseudonymous editor is generally identified as a specific American writer, and its supposedly ancient Sumerian material has been traced closely to a 1903 scholarly book on Babylonian demonology. A historian of magic has called it a well-constructed hoax, and one of its own illustrators has since described how it was actually put together.
