Rune Divination Was Invented

The earliest Roman account describes lot-casting with plain marks, not an alphabet oracle. No medieval source shows rune-card spreads of any kind. The modern divinatory system used by this catalogue's own rune entries descends from a 1908 Austrian occultist and a 1982 American book that invented the blank rune outright.
