Ordo Templi Orientis

Its documented history begins with Theodor Reuss's Masonic journal Oriflamme, launched in 1902, not with any medieval order. Crowley took charge of its British branch in 1912; his later story that Reuss appointed him for printing the ninth-degree secret in The Book of Lies cannot be right, as Crowley conceded, since that book had not yet appeared.
