The 2012 Phenomenon

The date itself is real Maya arithmetic, recorded on a seventh-century monument that predicts no catastrophe. The prophecy is not: Maya organisations and scholars said beforehand that nothing catastrophic was foretold, and the movement grew from a run of modern books, from Michael Coe's The Maya (1966) through Frank Waters, Terence McKenna, José Argüelles and John Major Jenkins.
