Unbroken Strength
The I Ching trigram representing pure Heaven, creative leadership, dynamic initiative, and unyielding persistence.
Qian is three whole lines, the only trigram with no yin in it, and the tradition reads that unbroken strength as heaven, whose motion never rests. Its attribute in the Shuogua is strength, its animal the horse and its part of the body the head. In the family of trigrams it is the father, and each of the three sons takes its single yang line from Qian, as each daughter takes her single yin line from Kun. In the Later Heaven arrangement it stands in the north-west. Doubled, it forms hexagram 1 of the King Wen sequence, which carries the same name and opens the book.
Light
Signifies creative power, initiative, endurance, firmness of purpose, and an authority exercised steadily and without fatigue.
Shadow
Can indicate rigidity, domination, force applied without rest, arrogance in a position held too high, and a strength that leaves no room for yielding.
