The Tension Released
Tension discharged like a storm breaking: finish quickly, forgive what is past, then let it go.
Deliverance sets Zhen, thunder, above Kan, water, and the received image is a thunderstorm that breaks: the oppression built up in the air discharges, rain falls and the tension goes out of the situation. It follows Obstruction in the sequence and reverses it, so the movement here is out of the danger in which the previous figure was caught. The Judgment counsels returning as soon as nothing remains to be done, and acting quickly where something still does, since a deliverance is spoiled by lingering over it. The Image draws the consequence: as the storm clears the air, the superior man pardons mistakes and forgives misdeeds.
Light
Signifies release from difficulty, tension discharged rather than suppressed, forgiveness extended once a conflict is over, and the plain relief of a situation that has finally moved.
Shadow
Can indicate relief taken as licence, a reckoning postponed instead of settled, slowness in returning to ordinary life, or a grievance kept alive after the danger that caused it has gone.
