The Aura and Its Photographs
The modern aura concept was fixed by two early-twentieth-century books, and a Soviet photographic technique was promoted as proof of it from 1970 onward. A scientific paper identified the actual cause — moisture and pressure producing an electrical corona — in print six years later.
