Sri Aurobindo
His central claim was that liberation is not withdrawal from matter but its transformation — a 'supermind' descending into ordinary life rather than a soul ascending away from it. Auroville, founded by his collaborator Mirra Alfassa in 1968, was built as that idea made into a town.
