The Horned God
The actual ancient evidence is extremely thin — one named inscription and one famous cauldron image. A 1931 book fused these scattered ancient fragments with the Greek god Pan and the Christian Devil into a single continuous persecuted deity, a construction a later historian thoroughly dismantled, and modern Wicca inherited the fused, invented version rather than either ancient source alone.
