Holy Communion

What happens to the bread and wine has never been agreed. Catholic transubstantiation, the Lutheran sacramental union, often called consubstantiation though Lutherans reject that label, and Zwingli's memorial view are incompatible accounts, and the split between them divided the Reformation itself, as the failed Marburg Colloquy of 1529 showed.
