The six-pointed hexagram (Magen David), symbol of Jewish identity, spiritual protection, and the union of heaven and earth.
What it meansTwo triangles interlocked, read in Kabbalah as the meeting of what descends and what ascends — heaven and earth, fire and water, held in one figure that belongs wholly to neither. Scholem's caution stands beside it: the shape carried no doctrine before the emblem did.

Shekhinah
Rabbinic Presence, Medieval Bride
An impersonal presence in the Talmud, and a bride exiled from her husband only in the Zohar, c. 1280.
Who they wereIn the Zohar she is the tenth sefirah, the point where the divine touches the world, and she is in exile with Israel — God's own presence separated from God. Every commandment is then read as reunion, and the tradition's account of redemption becomes a repair inside God.
The FindingThe Shekhinah's exile with Israel is already Talmudic, at Megillah 29a; what thirteenth-century Castile added was her exile from her husband — a rupture inside God, not a memory of an ancient goddess.
