Ask, Seek, Knock
Matthew 7:7
— NLTKeep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.
An encouragement to persistent prayer and spiritual seeking, promising divine responsiveness.
The passageAll three Greek verbs are continuous presents: keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. The saying is not about a single request being granted but about persistence being the condition, which is how the parables that surround it in Luke read it too.

Sent to all nations — behind mission education and healthcare, and sometimes conflated with colonialism.
The passageOnly one Greek imperative stands in the sentence — make disciples. Going, baptising and teaching are participles hanging off it. The commission is not primarily about travel, though it is usually read as though it were, and the text's grammar quietly subordinates the journey.

Psalm 23:1

The beloved psalm expressing calm trust in divine provision, comfort in dark valleys, and abiding protection.
The passageShepherd was a royal title across the ancient Near East — kings of Egypt, Mesopotamia and Israel all claimed it — so the line assigns to God an office human rulers were failing at. The Hebrew that follows says not that the sheep prospers but that it lacks nothing.
