In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.
This principle is arguably the most universal ethical teaching, appearing in some form in almost all major religions and ethical traditions. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus states it as the summary of the Law and the Prophets.
Light
It establishes a profoundly simple and universally applicable standard for ethical behavior and empathy.
Shadow
It can be misapplied if one assumes others have the exact same preferences or needs as oneself.
